Playing at the crossroads
of contemporary classical, radical electronic, and electro-acoustic New Music,
the improvisation group Chainworks takes the concept of the
piano trio to new extremes -- melodies skirling atop the crackle of pure electrical
distortion, harmonics of drum and cymbal mergingwith analog whir and drone.
An heir as much to 1980s New York noise as to David Tudor and John Cage, it's
